Bestwood Lodge is steeped in history and set in the magnificent acres of rambling parkland known as Bestwood Country Park. First mentioned in the Domesday Book, Bestwood Lodge was the preserve of King Henry I as a site for royal hunting. In 1683 King Charles II granted Bestwood Lodge to his son, the Duke of St Albans whose mother was the infamous Nell Gwynn. The Lodge, with its many unique features was designed by the famous Gothic Revival architect, S.S. Teulon and completed in 1863.
